Struck
Repurposing Timbre from National Parks
When I was little, the tree in the park in front of our home was struck by lightning. The next day, some men came to cut the tree down because it had died and was no longer safe to play around. It was a huge exercise because the tree was the height of a small building. When they departed, they left behind a sad and gnarly stump.
Struck is inspired by a childhood memory of a tree struck by lightning. Commissioned by the Singapore Furniture Industries Council and supported by the National Parks Board, Struck is showcased as part of “30 LifeStories- Remembering Parks” as a public installation for SingaPlural – the anchor event of Singapore Design Week 2014.
