National Day Tote Bag

A Jubilee Edition

On the 9th of August 1965, Singapore was thrust into independence becoming a sovereign republic overnight. The future of the island nation was uncertain and not many expected it to survive. Today, this date marks Singapore’s National Day. In 2015, Singapore honours 50 years of progress with the Golden Jubilee celebrations.

National Day Tote Bag (Jubilee Edition) includes updated patterns and motifs that acknowledge the significance of numerology and auspicious beliefs encoded in Singaporean culture and history.

The four official languages of Singapore are: English, Malay, Mandarin and Tamil. “Majulah Singapura” means “Onward, Singapore” and is the title of the national anthem that is sung in the national language - Bahasa Melayu. The national anthem’s final line highlights the key aspirations for the republic: “to achieve happiness, prosperity and progress for the nation.”

National Day Tote Bag (Jubilee Edition) reminds us that we carry the weight of Singapore's history and heritage as we head towards the future.
